Zinnia Dress

The Zinnia Dress was created to showcase those gorgeous petal sleeves. We’ve provided 2 different versions for the dress body for super versatility. A little A –line stretch knit version for a fresh modern look and a fun gathered empire waist silhouette that gives the flexibility of combining the stretch knit with a favorite woven
fabric or another knit…2 patterns in one PDF! Both silhouettes feature an above-the-knee length that looks adorable with some fun tights or leggings. The empire waist also includes a tunic length as well as a below-the-knee length for endless possibilities. The dress design, itself, has been kept simple in order for you to “make it your own”. It can be embellished in any number of ways. We have added cotton lace, rosettes, simple tied bows or buttons and hope that it will inspire you to put your own creative spin on it.

Fabric Requirements

58/60” stretch knit ONLY

Recommended fabrics: Interlock, Jersey, Cotton/Lycra Jersey or Stretch Velour/Velvet
If you are brand new to knits I suggest interlock as your first knit experience! If you decide to use a jersey, look for a medium weight fabric. A lightweight jersey can be more difficult to sew and is not recommended for very beginners.

44/45” woven (for skirt and sash of Empire Waist version ONLY)

You will also need:

  • sharp scissors & quilting ruler or rotary cutter & mat (recommended)
  • matching polyester thread
  • ball point or stretch needle
  • Optional buttons, lace or other embellishments

For the empire waist version:

  • knit fusible interfacing or stay tape
  • lightweight fusible interfacing for optional sash
