Hi, it’s Elizabeth here today for LilyGiggle. This is day three of our Holiday Blog Tour featuring a few of our favorite things. If you have missed the first two days, go check out day 1 with Brownie Goose and day 2 with Izzy & Ivy for a chance to win free patterns!
LilyGiggle’s latest release is the Brigitte Bow dress. I decided for my “favorite thing”, I would dress up this darling pattern for Christmas. I had been thinking about this dress for a week or two and had an idea in my mind of what I wanted to do with it. I just had to find the perfect skirt fabric. I was in Joann’s one day, when I saw it- and it was love at first sight. Gold metallic polka dots!
My girl loves all things fancy and anything that sparkles. Her eyes lit up when she saw this fabric, and even more when it became her dress!
I love that the Brigitte can be a casual peplum top, a cute dress, or even something really fancy that makes her feel like a princess!
The Brigitte has a knit bodice. I used this beautiful emerald green knit from Purpleseamstress for mine. It is cotton/lycra that has a great recovery, which you will need for the neck line. The bow on the neck is a separate piece sewed onto the neck band, but designed to look like all one piece. The pattern has an peplum option if you want to do a top, and a full length dress version as well. There is a hi/low option for the skirt. Since I was doing something fancy, I opted to leave off the hi/low part and make the skirt all the same length. I also did the skirt width 2x selvadge width for some extra twirl. This pattern is great for all skill levels so don’t be afraid if you are new to sewing, or even just new to sewing knits. The instructions are very detailed with photos to help you follow along.
I hope my version of the Brigitte inspires you to get out of the box a little and try some fun options for this pattern.
